RECORD PROPERTY SALES SPAIN 2023
24th February 2024Foreigners dominate the Spanish housing market with 21.1% of total sales, the highest ever. In the second half of 2022, they purchased 70,163 homes, an increase of 9.7% year on year. Non-residents pay a record price of almost €2600/m2. British remain the largest group of buyers, followed by Germans and French. On average, foreign buyers pay €2089/m2, with Swiss, Swedes and Americans the highest payers. Ukrainians, Americans and Argentinians showed the highest annual increases. Valencia leads in transactions per region, followed by Andalusia and Catalonia. Spanish notaries note that nationalities vary by region and type of buyer.
