GENERAL INFORMATION
Markets in the southern Costa Blanca usually take place between 08:00 and 14:00. Payment is mainly made in cash, although some stalls accept cards. Besides food, markets offer clothing, shoes, beach items, leather goods, bags, jewellery, accessories, household items, decorations, toys, souvenirs, plants, flowers and local specialties. The busiest times are between 10:30 and 13:00, and parking is easiest early in the morning or near designated fairgrounds.
MONDAY
Alicante hosts the covered Mercado Central on Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio, open from 07:30 to 14:30, known for high-quality fresh products, delicacies, wines and tapas ingredients. Parking is available in underground car parks nearby.
Santa Pola hosts a large coastal market in the town centre from 08:00 to 14:00, with a wide range of clothing, beachwear, accessories and everyday goods.
TUESDAY
Torrevieja hosts one of the largest markets in Spain on Avenida Delfina Viudes, with more than 500 stalls selling clothing, shoes, accessories, household goods and souvenirs. Parking is widely available.
Orihuela hosts a more traditional Spanish market with a strong local character.
WEDNESDAY
Guardamar del Segura hosts a lively market in the town centre from 08:00 to 14:00, popular with both locals and tourists and offering many beach-related products.
San Fulgencio, especially La Marina area, hosts a popular expat-oriented market.
THURSDAY
Rojales hosts a well-organised market at the fairground with good parking and a wide variety of goods.
Gran Alacant offers a smaller but pleasant market.
FRIDAY
Pilar de la Horadada hosts an authentic Spanish market in the town centre, less touristy and more traditional.
Torrevieja also hosts a smaller secondary market on Fridays.
SATURDAY
Ciudad Quesada hosts a popular market on Calle Los Arcos, especially among expats, with many international products.
Alicante markets are particularly busy on Saturdays.
SUNDAY
Guardamar hosts the well-known Lemon Tree Market near the N-332, offering a mix of second-hand goods, curiosities and new items.
Torrevieja hosts the Zoco Market, a large Sunday market combining flea market and regular stalls.
Torre de la Horadada hosts a smaller local market.
PRACTICAL TIPS
Arrive early for easier parking and less crowds. The best bargains are often found after 13:00. Negotiation is common, especially for non-food items. Be mindful of pickpockets in crowded areas and always carry sufficient cash.
